Please join the University of Toronto Scarborough community as we come together to raise the Every Child Matters flag in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Red Dress Day, held annually on May 5th, is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit People (MMIWG2S)

This week is organized to by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and the Athletics and Recreation to align with Women’s Memorial March’s that occurs annually in various communities and cities across the country, including Toronto on February 14.

The purpose of Treaties Recognition Week is to recognize the importance of treaties and expand awareness of the existence of treaties and the significance of the relationships between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous communities within Ontario.

Engage with and learn about foundational and collaborative strategies that foster reciprocal and meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples’.

Honour the experiences of residential school survivors at a University-wide event to commemorate Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.

Together we gather as a community, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to share space, listen, and learn about Orange Shirt Day.

Join the campus community on this walk to reflect on how we each plan to take action and meaningful steps toward reconciliation in both our lives and in our work.

The University of Toronto Scarborough will raise the Survivors Flag with an opening from Jake Charles, a traditional Anishinaabe knowledge sharer in his community, the Chippewas of Georgina Island .
