Local Mission Statement
University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) Connections and Conversations (C & C) is a staff-driven initiative that provides a supportive network for racialized staff. C & C began at the University of Toronto Scarborough as informal off-campus meetings among a small group of colleagues to discuss their experiences and evolved into a tri-campus affinity group prioritizing equity and applying an anti-oppression framework to build professional development and mentorship opportunities for racialized staff. The executive committee creates campus-specific goals and initiatives in collaboration with campus leadership to address racialized staff needs and foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
Collaboration with EDIO & ARCDO
Connections and Conversations partners with the University in advancing equity and inclusion at the systematic and structural levels. The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office (EDIO) at the University of Toronto Scarborough and the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office (ARCDO) within the Division of Human Resources & Equity work closely with and support C & C at the University of Toronto. University of Toronto Scarborough Connections and Conversations continues to hold the institution accountable on their commitment to the strategic mandate of the University of Toronto Scarborough, specifically Priority Three “Intentional Inclusion and Relational Accountability” and Priority Five “Participatory Decision-Making and Supportive Administrative Capacity”.
