October marks Islamic History Month. With this year's theme of Health & Healing, we welcome you to join us in celebrating Islamic History Month through a creative workshop that aims to create a healing space grounded in solidarity, self-reflection, and joy. 

Dr. Suleyman Dost, Assistant Professor of Late Antiquity and Early Islam within the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies, will deliver an opening address titledIslamic Art of Book and Writing through Centuries. Ms. Asifa Sheikh, an expert writing coach with Firefly Creative Writing will lead a reflective and playful workshop. After lunch, the cultural arts not-for-profit, Oddside Arts will lead an immersive art-based activity that engages themes of solidarity and belonging. No writing or artistic experience is required.

The event schedule is as follows: 
- 11:00am: Start and Land Acknowledgement
- 11:05 am: Welcome Remarks 
- 11:10am: Address by Dr. Suleyman Dost
- 11:30am: Writing Workshop by Ms. Asifa Sheikh
- 12:30pm: Lunch
- 1:00pm: Shifting Soil: An art-based self-reflection activity with Oddside Arts
- 1:55pm: Closing Remarks & Thank you
