Pride Flag Raising at UTSC

Join us to commemorate Pride month

For the sixth year, UTSC is proud to raise the More Colour, More Pride flag, in addition to the Trans Pride flag, for the month of June. This gesture honours the diversity, resilience, and importance of queer communities on our campus and beyond.

Join us at the UTSC flagpole Monday, June 3 at 12:00pm noon for a special presentation to celebrate the raising of the Pride flags. This event will take place at the flagpole outside the Arts & Administration building at the U of T Scarborough campus.

In the case of inclement weather, festivities will be moved inside to the AA atrium (AA112 Foyer).

Opening remarks will be shared by Cherilyn Scobie Edwards, Director Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and the flags will be raised by Campus Safety.

For any accessibility concerns, please contact edio.utsc@utoronto.ca.

Registration is not required; all are welcome in this space.

Date: Monday, June 3, 2024

Time: 12pm (until 1:30pm)

Location: Arts & Administration (AA) Building, UTSC (between AA and Student Centre). In the case of rain or inclement weather, we will move the celebration inside to AA112.

This event is made possible through the collaboration of multiple offices, including the Principal's Office, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office, Campus Safety, Retail & Conference Services, Facilities Management, and Marketing & Communications.

More about Pride month at UTSC

Pride month is an opportunity to acknowledge the resilience, diversity and history of 2SLGBTQ+ communities. For the fifth year, UTSC will be raising the More Colour, More Pride flag. This flag features the Pride colours to honour the experiences and resilience of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) people. The addition of black and brown stripes to center the experiences of Black, Indigenous and racialized people in the 2SLGBTQ+* community. This flag is an affirmation of UTSC’s commitment to being intentionally inclusive and representing more voices and experiences in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Additionally, we raise the Trans Pride flag to represent 2-spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people.
